When we see people in power, we see our governments making decisions or promulgating laws and regulations that are contrary to our most cherished values of democracy, freedom, peace, justice and equality for all, we often feel powerless to change the way things seem to be going.

We don’t know what to do to make our voices heard, and often end up using the same methods the people presently in power use: hate, discrimination, judgment and blame. Simply we are directing our judgment and blame towards the people in power, while they are directing it towards certain races, colors, religions, and cultures. When we do that, we have lowered our standards to match theirs, and we have just compounded the levels of darkness in the world.

Let me suggest that as conscious human beings, knowing ourselves as an expression of Divinity, it’s our responsibility to bring into the world the values of our Source, rather than fight and oppose the ideas set out by some present-day leaders. We can loudly and strongly declare the values we stand for, and which seem to have gone unheard in many recent declarations and intentions.

The values we know to be those of the Source of all life, are harmony, joy, peace, justice, cooperation, understanding, trust, appreciation, honesty, integrity, safety and security, kindness and prosperity for all beings. We uphold those values through whatever means we are called to use, in our private lives as well as in public demonstrations. We can organize peaceful marches to make our standards known, without projecting any blame on anyone.

We must be the first to demonstrate all the qualities of harmony, peace, honesty, cooperation and integrity that we wish to see expressed by others. Relentlessly and continuously. Therefore, we don’t judge blame or attack anyone. We are also citizens of our country, and our perspective deserves to be heard, as much and as loudly as the perspective of those who hate, discriminate and are in such fear that they lash out with anger or build walls of protection around their hearts.

By showing understanding, compassion, love, and allowance of differences for all, especially those misguided by their egos, we powerfully proclaim the values of Source wherever those seem to be missing.

We must first become the change we want to see in the world –before the world can reflect the change we have undergone.
