There are many of us who have chosen paths in this life that seem so much more difficult than some others we see. The first thing to realize, we are all unique, so it does no good to compare ourselves to others, whatever area of life we are looking at, because we tend to always look at the problem, the difficulty, the lack, the limitation that is ours that others don’t have.

That automatically lowers our frequency, attracting to us more lower-vibrational frequencies. If we have to compare, what if we started to look at what we do have that some others don’t? And started to appreciate and become grateful for what, so far, we have not really appreciated, or even realized it was a gift of Spirit to us, individually, which not everyone has been granted.

But there are reasons for difficult lifetimes, and most of them are very empowering for the personality we also are. Let’s look at some of them. It seems to be a fact that advanced spiritual beings often choose very difficult temporal lives. Since they are advanced, meaning they have acquired more spiritual knowledge than most, because they have had a great number of incarnations on this Earth, and a great many different experiences which have made them wise and able to victoriously work through a challenging lifetime.

We only have to think of the lives of those we consider great Masters, like Buddha and Jesus, or Mother Teresa, Gandhi, and other mystics or spiritual leaders – in very different ways, they all had extremely difficult lives, and sometimes, deaths.

We call them “old souls”, and when they were “young souls” in their first incarnations, they have had their share of easy lives, just playing around and learning the codes of behavior expected of humans, what works and what doesn’t work, and assimilating lessons of increasing complexity.

By moving through the difficulties presented and making the right spiritual choices, they grew and grew in consciousness and awareness, as we all do, and freed themselves of certain human ideas, concepts and beliefs, creating a change in their environment until they reached enlightenment and their final lifetime on earth. The changes Buddha and Jesus made had a rippling effect on the whole world, even in our times now.

By the choices we now make, we also create a change in the Morphic field of humanity, because we are a part of it. Every positive change we accomplish within ourselves is felt and registered in the human Morphic field, affecting the balance of light vs. dark. It’s creating an energetic pathway in that field, making it easier for others to follow, for others to become free.

We chose our experiences to indicate how they could be lived through and transformed without anger, conflict or revenge, by demonstrating forgivenss, spiritual wisdom and understanding, joy in the midst of sorrow, a peaceful attitude in the presence of hostility or attack.  That is our mission in the challenges facing us. Since we are here now, we have lived our mission well in the past, and that is a cause for celebration! We know we can do it again and again, we now have all the tools to make the right choices. Challenges are opportunities to demonstrate our mastery, not sink into complaints and despair.
