We are told we create our own reality, but how does that work when our reality is something we don’t like, that we would never have wanted for ourselves? The truth is, we only want what is beautiful, what is enjoyable, a quality that we consider good. We want a loving relationship, lots of money, we want to be courageous, patient, or kind.

When we don’t have the romantic relationship we want, or it’s not a loving one, look within; where are we not being a companion, or giving out love, to ourselves or others? Whatever is missing is what you’re not giving; that’s the truth. Are you being loving to yourself, and to everyone around you? As a spiritual being, you already have all the love, peace, joy and abundance of the Divine within you; no one can give you what you already have. Give of the love you have, so it can be reflected back to you.

Most people don’t love themselves; they criticize their bodies, their mental processes, their emotions. That’s why “love your neighbor as yourself” doesn’t usually work. If you don’t love yourself, you can’t love your neighbor! Being loving doesn’t mean kisses and hugs or having dinner with them; but it does mean accepting them as they are, without inner criticism or condemnation. When you truly feel love for yourself, accept yourself and are content just as you are, you stop needing the love of another – and that is when love can show up, attracted to your field of unconditional love.

When we desire more of some quality, how do you think it will come to us? Say you want to be more patient; will you learn it when everyone around you is loving, giving, kind and considerate? No! You will draw people into your life who push your buttons, irritate you, anger you, or humiliate you. If that is your current experience, look back to see whether you have ever desired to be kind, understanding or patient – and that is what most people want. To cultivate that quality, you will be put into situations that will require you to demonstrate it, over and over, until you have embodied it and have become kind and understanding, rather than angry, frustrated or fearful.

And if you want lots of money, realize that money is one of the manifestations of the quality of abundance. All qualities, including abundance, are within Spirit, who you really are. Abundance is already yours, and can only come to you from Spirit, even if it looks like coming from your investments, your boss, the government or your partner. It’s only coming through them, not from them.

Unless you feel abundant, abundance can’t come, or if it does, won’t stay with you. Cultivate the feeling of abundance, of “I have” rather than “I don’t have” regardless of appearances. Feel the joy you would feel if you had enough money to start your business, to go on that holiday, to buy the car of your dreams. Keep seeing abundance everywhere, every day, and follow your intuition as to the actions needed to bring about the thing you desire. Action is always necessary in order to make qualities visibly manifest.

That is why Spirit incarnated in you – to bring its qualities into visible manifestation, for you and for all.
