This may seem like a tall order, given the “news” we are being bombarded with in the media. It would seem like there is nothing good at all happening in the world, but if we stop and think for just a minute, there are so many good things happening, without us being in the least responsible for them or the authors of them. Our ignorance of the laws of nature has made us the greatest contributing factor, and sometimes the cause, of all the problems we are experiencing right now.

The only news we are being given are focused on us being told to fear this, that or the other thing; and in some aspects of our lives, we deeply resent and reject being told what to do, or what to think. Why not extend that to what we are being told by the media, by “authority figures”, by Governments who visibly have not been able to tell us the truth about what’s happening, or find a solution to very real problems that are facing us?

Why not trust ourselves, our own knowing about what is right for us to do for the well-being of ourselves, our families, the groups we are all a part of, that become bigger groups like nations, cultures, and even the whole of humanity.

And we know that when we feel happy, it’s because our thoughts have been on happy events, and when we are happy, our families and friends tend to be that way too; and everyone within our sphere of influence, which for most of us, is fairly limited.

But when we allow ourselves to be influenced by people outside of our sphere of influence, people we don’t even know, whose motivations we don’t know, who are being influenced by other people we know nothing about, especially when that influence makes us feel fearful, upset, angry, frustrated, bad, where is the logic of even listening to them? Is what they say even true? And if it is – and we never know how much of it is true! – is it true for us?

Do we like feeling afraid, frustrated and angry, perhaps even guilty about being in a place of peace while so many others are suffering in conflict, war, loss of every kind, terror and grief? If not, change them! Our feeling despondent, sad and upset is not helping those who have real reasons for their feelings of injustice, fear, and victimhood.

If we don’t like having those feelings, we have complete control over them, by what we focus on, what we think about, and what we see. You know the saying: “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see!” So it’s time to change our focus to joyful and life-giving things, which will make us feel happier, and all in our sphere of influence feel happier. And through our friends and relatives, who have other friends and relations, their sphere of influence can reach even those who are now in conflict and war, and give them hope and support.

If you have a hard time finding things that uplift your energy and make you grateful, think of the sun bringing back new life to the planet, of the rain bringing water and nutrition to the plants, animals and humans, of the compassion and assistance being given to those in need in so many various ways – our change of focus toward the good, the Light, the Divine, has a positive influence beyond what we know or imagine.
“Become the change you want to see in the world” because unless we do, there will be no change in the world. As each of us becomes more giving, loving, compassionate and kind, the more the world will entrain to that.
