Are we procrastinators, and why?

Most people I know, including myself, procrastinate with things they need to do, have to do, even want to do, and sometimes never get them done. This can be a good thing, or a bad thing.  It depends on where your procrastination stems from, and how much guidance you hear. I have discovered three basic reasons for it.

1)  Laziness, or not wanting to do whatever it is;

2)  The fact that it is not yet the optimal time to do them;

3)  That they don’t need to be done at all.

What is the definition of procrastination?  For someone connected to their Spirit, it means they can feel within their energetic sensor that this action is not in perfect alignment at this time.  But if you don’t have that connection fully working, then it simply means it is not comfortable or convenient at this time.

I have a friend who works in an office, and on occasion, finds that a certain task given to her she simply can’t get around to. Something is always in the way, there is an urgent thing that must be done right now, somehow that particular task never gets priority. Since she’s a person very aligned with Divinity, she doesn’t get anxious or worried or irritated, she knows that when the time is right, the task will get done.

And what happens?  The manager sends her a message that the whole project has been put on hold and will probably not be implemented at all, so to not spend time on it now! So that’s an example of procrastination at its best, when you don’t spend time working on a project that will be put in the trash can as soon as you’ve completed it.

Other times, there might still be changes done to the project, so if you procrastinate a bit, you will get those changes from an apologetic boss who says, “I’m so sorry, but you will have to re-do several parts of this!”  And you smile at him and say “It’s all right, I’ll do that as quickly as I can!” Now you have a boss grateful for your helpfulness and willingness, and you haven’t wasted any of your time.

And the third possibility is, you are just plain lazy, don’t enjoy those particular tasks, and so always find something else to do instead.  This, I am afraid, is the biggest category, and here you must make a commitment to change your ways, whether the reason is it’s too much work, or you don’t know how to do it, or you’re afraid of what people will think of you if you don’t get that other thing done first,  or whatever other “reasonable” reason is yours.

Because your alignment with Source is all-important, and your ego doesn’t tell you the truth of what is for your highest good. What is for your ultimate good is very often difficult and inconvenient and not comfortable, but it builds your character, so that you become a noble representative of the Spirit within you.
