Things are never perfect in this world, because they always change. However good they are, they are never perfect, because perfection is a principle that only exists in the absolute and invisible realm where nothing ever changes and everything is exactly as it is. Perfection is wholeness and completeness and goodness – not what you think is good.

Through our intention, attention and action we draw the spiritual perfection into our life, but that perfection will look different for everyone, since we are unique individuals with different desires and perceptions. And when we see things as imperfect, we are just confusing perfection with what we want. Could we see every situation, every event, every feeling we have about it as a perfect expression of whatever it is?

We start by seeing things as they are, without a judgement of either “good” or “bad”; that simply means we want them, or we don’t want them. The situation already is, and we want to experience it in the best possible way, right? If a friend brings you a gift for your birthday, and you think it’s the ugliest thing you ever saw, do you reject it, tell him you don’t want it?

Of course not. You thank him, give him a big hug, and pretend you like it. He’s happy, and you’re happy because you made your friend happy and you have a celebration together, even if you really don’t like the gift at all.

The same thing applies when the Universe presents you with a situation you don’t like, such as a break-up of your relationship, a disease, your project being rejected, or losing your job. You are sad, upset, you hate the thought of it, but – the Universe is your friend! Always working for you, for your highest good, whatever the appearance is at this time. That’s a principle you must hold on to no matter what, so you can have a celebration even if you hate the appearance!

A possible way of looking at “bad” things as perfect is to realize they are perfect examples of what they are. This disease is a perfect expression of disease; if I’m frustrated, it’s a perfect expression of frustration. I don’t have to like it, but it is a perfect expression of what it is.

Then, you find ways to acknowledge and affirm the situation as something that will help you evolve to a higher level than you’re at now. You thank the Universe for a gift you can’t see as yet, because it’s still wrapped up in the appearance. You don’t have to know how or why it’s a gift, but right now, you acknowledge it as a gift for your accelerated evolution towards what your Spirit already is – and that is perfect health, wealth, joy, and abundance of everything you could ever desire.

Acknowledgement, rather than unwilling and difficult acceptance, takes all the pressure off. You can dislike the event all you want, but now, instead of beating yourself up for being unspiritual, worried or angry, you realize your attitude is a perfect expression of being angry, of being worried. You have become a witness of your feelings, have created a small gap between You and that feeling. Now you can choose to have a higher understanding of the situation, and a higher response than before.
