Apart from the very real hardships many people are enduring in these times, physical, emotional and economic, and these are not to be minimized, but there is also a great spiritual opportunity that is being revealed, and that is the possibility of liberating ourselves from the constraints of waiting, and time.
Because we are forever waiting for something, or working towards something that is not yet here; waiting for a time when the quarantine is over or when the virus will disappear; or working towards a better world. And what I have recently realized is that there never will be a time when before this date, there was the virus, and after that date, no more virus. The virus will disappear, for sure – they all do! We just don’t know when, and it will be gradual, so there is no precise moment to wait for.
And working towards a better world in whatever way we are doing it, by healing, coaching, teaching, writing, speaking, good as it is, has this embedded inherent belief that something needs fixing, something is not as it should be. And it is that belief which we must change, while still continuing the work we’re doing that’s assisting the rest of humanity in very real ways.
So I realized that even with the quarantine over, nothing will have really changed; so there was nothing to wait for! Because the change must come from within me, and I don’t have to wait for the world to change before I can live the way I want to, right now, even with the virus, even with the quarantine, even with the restrictions still in place.
Instead of opposing and resisting and going against what is, I can choose to allow, do what I’m asked to do and be at peace with what is, if that makes others feel safe and protected. Even if I know I don’t have the virus. And the feeling of peace and allowance that generates, and radiates out, is stronger, and more contagious than the feelings of fear, helplessness and powerlessness that are still rampant. Each of us needs to choose which energy we want to circulate, and have return to us amplified with similar energies collected on its path.
