The Art of Perception-crafting our Reality

We think we live in a visible world of things, from a grain of sand to the largest star or planet, which at one level is true; but we also live in a world of invisible “things” that we cannot perceive with our ordinary five 3-D senses, but that nonetheless exist, such as infra-red and ultra-violet light that can be seen by instruments we have constructed, and sound frequencies, again perceptible by special technical means, sometimes even by other life-forms, like dogs that hear high-pitched sounds we don’t hear.

Just think of a radio, with which you can tune into the various frequencies that are all around us but which we cannot normally hear unless we have a radio with a dial, that can tune into the inaudible frequencies around us. When the dial matches a certain frequency, we can then hear what’s there, music, or the news, or a political debate. We can choose what to listen to by turning the dial this way or that, until we hear what we want.

While we see material things with our eyes and hear a certain range of sounds with our ears, our material bodies act as a radio, able to both receive and transmit; our attention serves as the dial that tunes into specific frequencies. Our attention focused on any given quality, like joy, gratitude, anxiety or frustration, will bring the essence of that quality into our lives. That’s how we become the creators of our reality.

You realize, of course, the importance of maintaining your focus on qualities such as harmony, joy, and abundance. Because what you pay attention to, becomes a prominent aspect of your lived reality. But when you fear, reject or resist something, you are also paying attention to it – and that’s an aspect we often forget about!

We also need to start examining all our beliefs, where they came from, and whether they still hold true in our present life – because at one point, they probably were true for us and useful, or you would not have adopted them! – or maybe they were just never true, but imposed on us by our parents, teachers, society or our culture.

Carefully and honestly examine them, and start discarding all those that are not true, or that are no longer serving you. Beliefs are not necessarily true, they have simply become accepted through repetition or societal influence; so re-evaluate your perspectives. Because with free will we have been given the opportunity and are allowed to choose whatever we want to believe, whatever seems useful at any given moment. No other life-form on Earth has been given that opportunity! So appreciate it.

There is no absolute rightness of any point of view; so staying open-minded and aware of your own consciousness and intentionally focusing on positive aspects, you can influence and shape your own experience and reality.
